A note about climbathon
The World's Toughest Mountain Race is back. The Mt. Kinabalu International Climbathon has made its reputation as "The World's Toughest Mountain Race" is a true challenge to the spirit of human endurance. The race involves running up and down Mt. Kinabalu (4095.2 m)- Malaysia's First World Heritage Site, a total distance of 21 KM for both Men and Women category.
Climbathon first started in 1987 where its origin can be traced on Sabah Parks intention to have rapid rescue squad - a team of rangers who can bring down injured climbers fast (especially useful during bad weather when helicopters can't be used.) It was all Malaysian affairs for a year until it was open to international participants. It is now popular among the European mountain runners. They form the majority members in the World Mountain Running Association (WMRA), whose patron is the International Amateur Athletic Federations (IAAF).
Nah itu..part of us, I do love Climbathon coz it is just not for the matter or working but in the same time i can curi2 holiday as well hehe..esp. with fun & sporting colleagues around and merrier with the participant for other places :)
by end of the day we all will gona say this "CHEERS!"

so...Are You Though Enough for climbathon? No harm to try ...

If I called you and asked you to pick me up because something happened, would you come? If I had one day left, to live my life; would you be part of that last day? If I needed a shoulder to cry on, would you give me yours? This is a test to see who your real friends are or if you are just some one to talk to you when they are bored . . . send this to everybody on your list including the person who sent it to you. Tattoo...

A tattoo is a puncture wound, made deep in your skin, that's filled with ink. It's made by penetrating your skin with a needle and injecting ink into the area, usually creating some sort of design. What makes tattoos so long-lasting is they're so deep — the ink isn't injected into the epidermis (the top layer of skin that you continue to produce and shed throughout your lifetime). Instead, the ink is injected into the dermis, which is the second, deeper layer of skin. Dermis cells are very stable, so the tattoo is practically permanent.
Tattoos used to be done manually — that is, the tattoo artist would puncture the skin with a needle and inject the ink by hand. Though this process is still used in some parts of the world, most tattoo shops use a tattoo machine these days. A tattoo machine is a handheld electric instrument that uses a tube and needle system. On one end is a sterilized needle, which is attached to tubes that contain ink. A foot switch is used to turn on the machine, which moves the needle in and out while driving the ink about 1/8 inch (about 3 millimeters) into your skin.
I do love tattoo …but don’t have the guts to do so, I really want too but not the permenant 1, if possible can be remove after for a certain year which is impossible these days..haha imagine if I’m reaching 60’s then with the tattoo…wonder how it is look like with sagging skin? Hehe…ignored lah..dont think about it…

Did You Know?
Tattoos have been around for a long, long time, Throughout history, tattoos were mostly worn as decoration. They’ve been found on mummified bodies dating back to 3300BC, and it’s well known that many societies wore (and still wear) tattoos as part of their culture.

Hangover...
Do you feel dehydrated the day after you drink? Alcohol robs your brain cells of water and glucose, which is why you would feel the effects of dehydration, a headache, and the shakes the day after the night of heavy drinking.. The only real cure to a hangover is time and the knowledge gained to limit your drinking the next time so you will remember the party and avoid the unpleasant side effects.

Why do we get hangovers?
Hangovers are linked to high levels of alcohol in the bloodstream. "The liver metabolises alcohol at a rate of an ounce of per hour - a full glass of wine or a large glass of beer. Obviously age, sex and weight also play a role. Hangover symptoms are felt as quickly as one hour after the last drink was consumed, but the worst symptoms strike 8 - 10 hours later and can last up to 24 hours. The body is basically responding as if it has been mildly poisoned - that accounts for the
dizziness, headaches, dehydration and heartburn."

Alcohol is a diuretic, which dehydrates you. Methanol and acetone are found in some drinks and many believe these cause hangovers rather than ethanol(alcohol). Brandy seems to be worst for hangovers. To much alcohol also depletes the body of vitamins and minerals and plays havoc with the blood sugar levels.

THERE'S NO MAGIC CURE FOR A HANGOVER!! To prevent bad hangover do :
-Know you limits. Set a drinking limit for yourself and stick to it.
-Don’t mix alcohol and do avoid fizzy mixers and alcopops. The bubbles get the alcohol to your brain faster. This seems to make hangovers worse.
-Do eat before you drink; even a glass of milk can help prevent a hangover. -Don’t drink on an empty stomach, as food slows the rate at which
alcohol is absorbed.
-Do drink twice as much still water as alcohol, and a pint of water before bed
-Do sip rather than guzzle when you drink alcohol. Drink slowly, sip rather than gulp. Never drink alcohol because you are thirsty, as it will only dehydrate you further.
-Space your drinks - drink fruit juice or soda water in between your
alcoholic beverages
-Do stay off alcohol completely for a few days after a party to let
your liver get back to normal.

What you can do if you have a hangover
-Drink lots of water as this will rehydrate you and every time you
urinate, you will be getting rid of some of the alcohol from the night
before. Stay away from coffee.
-Do a bit of exercise, like a walk in the fresh air.
-Eat lots of food. If you are feeling nauseous, constantly nibble on
some dry toast.
-Lie down and get some rest. Your body needs it. Take an aspirin or two
to sort out the headache.
Be patient. This too shall pass…** I agree on this, hehe

Myth:
If I get drunk I can just have a coffee or something to eat to sober me up!

Fact:
False! Once alcohol is in your body, no amount of food or drink can change its effects!

bah..itu saja bah for now!

>> Monday, August 11, 2008

Found this question somewhere …hehe
Q1 : What is the best way to stem/dwon the affects of alcohol?

Answer:
Your Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) will begin to rise as soon as you
start drinking, and will usually reach its maximum 20-60 minutes after
you stop. There is no quick way to reduce your BAC after you've stopped drinking.

Supposed remedies such as exercise, drinking coffee, fruit juice or
water, taking a cold shower or deep breaths of fresh air won't lower
your BAC.

“Time is the only cure.”

It can take one hour for the body to metabolise each standard drink
you have. Therefore, make sure enough time has passed before you drive
(even the next morning), especially for drivers with a limit of 0.02.

Q2 : How can I reduce the risk of exceeding the limit?

Answer:
1. Start with a non-alcoholic drink.
2. Eat before and while you are drinking to slow the absorption of
alcohol into the bloodstream.
3. Avoid salty snacks (eg: pretzels, chips, peanuts) which make you thirsty.
4. Make every second or third drink a non-alcoholic beverage.
5. Have one drink at a time (don't "top up" your drinks).
6. Try low alcohol alternatives

What happens
Although it takes minutes for alcohol to reach the brain, it takes the
liver an hour to break down the alcohol in a glass of wine or half a
pint of beer.

The less you weigh the more alcohol affects you, so there's a good
reason for alcohol being illegal below a certain age. A slim teenage
boy will get drunk far more quickly than a large adult male.
A girl will feel the effects of alcohol faster and for longer than a boy...emmmm not sure bout this, hehe

Reading Pleasure...

I across this article and would like to have here just for reading pleasure. Hehe ok jugalah the information..just to be aware when we're taking alcohol bah...:P

What Is Alcohol?

Deciding whether to drink is a personal decision that we each eventually have to make.
Alcohol is created when grains, fruits, or vegetables are fermented. Fermentation is a process that uses yeast or bacteria to change the sugars in the food into alcohol. Fermentation is used to produce many necessary items — everything from cheese to medications. Alcohol has different forms and can be used as a cleaner, an antiseptic, or a sedative.
How Does It Affect the Body?
Alcohol is a depressant, which means it slows the function of the central nervous system. Alcohol actually blocks some of the messages trying to get to the brain. This alters a person's perceptions, emotions, movement, vision, and hearing.
In very small amounts, alcohol can help a person feel more relaxed or less anxious. More alcohol causes greater changes in the brain, resulting in intoxication. People who have overused alcohol may stagger, lose their coordination, and slur their speech. They will probably be confused and disoriented. Depending on the person, intoxication can make someone very friendly and talkative or very aggressive and angry. Reaction times are slowed dramatically — which is why people are told not to drink and drive. People who are intoxicated may think they're moving properly when they're not. They may act totally out of character.
When large amounts of alcohol are consumed in a short period of time, alcohol poisoning can result. Alcohol poisoning is exactly what it sounds like — the body has become poisoned by large amounts of alcohol. Violent vomiting is usually the first symptom of alcohol poisoning. Extreme sleepiness, unconsciousness, difficulty breathing, dangerously low blood sugar, seizures, and even death may result. With large amounts of alcohol also can make you look really stupid. The impression is that drinking is cool, but the nervous system changes that come from drinking alcohol can make people do stupid or embarrassing things, like throwing up or peeing on themselves. Drinking also gives people bad breath, and no one enjoys a hangover....

Smile..:)

1. Do I understand why im smiling?

2. Am I giving a sincere smile of just for the sake to smile?

3. Do my smiling sweet as candy?

4. Em...I do love people smile at me

and for that, I do read this ....

Many biologists think the smile originated as a sign of fear. Primalogist Signe Preuschoft traces the smile back over 30 million years of evolution to a "fear grin" stemming from monkeys and apes who often used barely clenched teeth to portray to predators that they were harmless. Biologists believe the smile has evolved differently among species and especially among humans. Biology is not the only academic discipline that interprets the smile. Those who study kinesics view the smile as an affect display. It can communicate feelings such as: love, happiness, pride, contempt, and embarrassment. (I can see this..)

In physiology, a smile is a facial expression formed by flexing those muscles most notably near both ends of the mouth. The smile can also be found around the eyes (See 'Duchenne smile' below). Among humans, it is customarily an expression denoting pleasure, happiness, or amusement, but can also be an involuntary expression of anxiety, in which case it can be known as a grimace. There is much evidence that smiling is a normal reaction to certain stimuli as it occurs regardless of culture. Happiness is most often the motivating cause of a smile. Among animals, the exposure of teeth, which may bear a resemblance to a smile, is often used as a threat or warning display - known as a snarl - or a sign of submission. In chimpanzees, it can also be a sign of fear. (haha..dont believe i read this)

Anyway...the internet say this....the famous People with Smiles are :

and me of course hehe..ok happy smiling and make it real!
